Evelyn Hugo-Inspired Spotify Playlist
Evelyn Hugo was one of my favorite reads on 2021 (though it was published in 2017). I was so swept up in the world Taylor Jenkins Reid created that I was inspired to make a playlist based on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
This book is marvelous, part historical-fiction, part romance, part heartbreaker. I chose the gorgeously dramatic and heart-wrenching The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo because I have yet to stop thinking about it 💚
I selected songs that I felt represented the tone of the book as well as the themes: love found and lost, betrayal, Old Hollywood, fame, sacrifice, sexism, tragedy, glamour, beauty, longing, and desire.
The first five tracks from the playlist are listed below, along with a lyric I was inspired by, but….I obviously couldn’t stop at just five, so I have over 2 hours of an Evelyn Hugo Spotify playlist linked here!
🎶 I Only Have Eyes For You - The Flamingos
“Maybe millions of people go by, but they all disappear from view”
🎶La vie en rose - Celeste
“Your words caress me like a kiss, Drip softly from your lips, is this la vie en rose?”
🎶The Man That Got Away - Judy Garland
“The dreams you dreamed have all, gone astray”
🎶To Be Loved - Adele
“I'll never learn if I never leap, I'll always yearn if I never speak”
🎶Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey
“Diamonds, brilliant, and Bel Air now, hot summer nights, mid-July, when you and I were forever wild”
