I liked this one more than her other book, The Guest List, which I also enjoyed (and reviewed)!
This book premise is nearly identical to TGL: a group of old friends in a remote location, and one of them ends up dead. We don’t know the killer, and we don’t know the victim.
Only this time, they’re at a remote hunting lodge in the Scottish wilderness, where a group of university friends gather for New Year’s Eve. Each of them bringing secrets, resentments, lies, truths, and suspicions to their weekend away, everyone is a suspect.
Read if:
🌲You like reading multiple POV
🌲You enjoy the atmosphere of a book as much as the mystery (Scottish highlands? Eerie property? Remote and snowed in? YES)
🌲You like a murder-mystery with a slow burn
🌲You don’t mind unlikable, elitist characters (and there are many 😅)
🌲You’re a fan of Agatha Christie, many recognizable homages to her common tropes.
Not for everyone, I do understand why it’s widely considered to drag on, but I for whatever reason was invested and didn’t guess the twists!
