The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue 5⭐️/5

“Because time is cruel to all, and crueler still to artists. Because visions weakens, and voices wither, and talent fades.... Because happiness is brief, and history is lasting, and in the end... everyone wants to be remembered.”

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

5⭐️/5

I thought the writing was beautiful and the idea remarkable! A reimagining of the Faustian Bargain beginning in 1714 stretching to present day? And our main settings are Paris and New York? I was in before we began.

There are elements of historical fiction, fantasy, and romance. I always love an author that experiments with genre, and this genre-bending story plays across centuries, continents, art, and history.

It’s a beautifully told, character-driven story, slow and atmospheric, but I know it didn’t quite hit home for some. For me, however, I enjoyed the gorgeous prose and winding of stories. Also the chemistry between Addie and Luc was perfect.
